Sleep timer

Fan noise with a sleep timer

Fan Noise’s sleep timer stops the fan for you. Choose 15 minutes to 8 hours, a time of your own or All night, then how it fades out: quick (10 seconds), gentle (45 seconds) or slow (3 minutes). The sound eases away instead of cutting off, the timer keeps counting with the screen off, and all of it is free.

How to set it

  • Start a fan, or white or brown noise, and open the sleep timer. In The Fan look, turn the timer dial on the control plate.
  • Pick a length from 15 minutes to 8 hours, a time of your own, or All night.
  • Choose the fade-out: quick (10 seconds), gentle (45 seconds) or slow (3 minutes).
  • Lock your phone. When the time is up, the sound eases away and the fan stops.

All night, or until you’re asleep?

If noises wake you later in the night, choose All night, and the fan plays until you turn it off in the morning. If you only need it to fall asleep, a timer lets the room go quiet once you’re out.

A fade, not a click

When the time is up, the sound doesn’t cut off. Fan Noise lowers it over the fade you chose, 10 seconds, 45 seconds or 3 minutes, and then the motor stops.

Even with the screen off

The timer runs with your phone locked, and if the phone holds the app back in the night, the sound still stops on time. Read more about fan noise with the screen off, or pick a fan on the Fan Noise home page.

Questions, answered.

Is there a fan noise app with a sleep timer?
Yes. Fan Noise plays nine fans and white and brown noise with a free sleep timer: 15 minutes to 8 hours, a time of your own or all night, with a quick (10 seconds), gentle (45 seconds) or slow (3 minutes) fade-out. It works with the screen off, on iPhone, iPad and Android.
Does the sound stop suddenly when the timer ends?
No. It fades out over the time you choose: quick (10 seconds), gentle (45 seconds) or slow (3 minutes). Gentle is the one it uses unless you choose another.
Can I play fan noise all night?
Yes. Choose All night and the fan plays until you turn it off. It keeps going with the screen off, and if you leave the app open, night mode dims the screen.
Does the sleep timer cost anything?
No. Every length, All night and all three fade-outs are free, with ads. Fan Noise Plus adds 46 more sleep sounds, the mixer, saved mixes and no ads.
